About

Our Mission

Operation Warm Feet is an organization that works to provide those in need with new, dry, and clean socks.

Everyone, regardless of their situation, should be able to enjoy the comfort of warm feet.

Our Story

Like many people at the holidays, our office looked to help people in need. We came across a website that was coordinating gift donations to children through local shelters. Once we committed to the cause, we found that rather than donating through an automated, online system, we had to purchase the gifts and personally drop them off at a physical shelter location. It sounded simple enough, but this is when it became a ‘no good deed goes unpunished’ scenario.

The store was out of the requested gifts so it took several trips to find them. The hours for drop off were narrow so time had to be taken off from work for delivery. Finally, I dropped off the gifts at the shelter only to find that they didn’t make it to the intended recipient—and had to start all over again.

Along the way, I was able to speak to a coordinator at the shelter, mainly to make sure the second time around that the gifts would end up with the intended recipient. In that discussion, I was told the greater need for homeless individuals is socks. This had never crossed my mind before she mentioned it. The coordinator went on to tell me that homeless individuals have poor foot health due to wet, old socks with holes in them. This is especially an issue in Minnesota with our wintery, rainy weather. I shared this story with co-workers and friends and was able to deliver a bag full of new socks along with the gift donation on my second trip to the shelter.

Frustrated by the experience, our group identified a way to use our skills to dramatically simplify the process. Now through Operation Warm Feet, you may simply select a participating shelter and purchase socks online to be delivered directly for distribution. It’s only a few clicks to make a big difference to someone in need.

Thank you for your donation. Your contribution makes a huge difference to someone’s overall wellbeing.
